A downloadable playbook

Even in the dark and the grime of Duskwall there are those who possess a shining glimmer of hope. Maybe it's foolishly naive to look for the best in people, to expect things to turn out okay, to keep fighting for your ideals despite overwhelming reality. In fact, forget 'maybe'. But still the Hopeful persists, because that's who they are. They're out of place among the scoundrels of the underworld, but maybe that difference is their strength. Maybe, in this perpetual gloom, the Hopeful's light will attract others who wish for something better. Or maybe it'll just make them stand out as an obvious target.

The Hopeful is a playbook for Blades in the Dark that attempts to force a magical girlish sort of archetype into the setting, on the basis that everything could benefit from more magical girls. It could also be played as a waif-type character whose purity is their (questionable) strength, as a zealot-type with unfailing belief in the righteousness of their actions, or as a princess-type who's used to getting her own way. It actually turned out to be pretty flexible! It was fun to make a playbook centred around optimism and sincerity, which is pretty much the opposite of the usual Blades mood. I also wanted to incorporate the fact that the sun is broken in the world of Blades. The Hopeful can be a literal light in the darkness, if that sort of thing tickles you.

This playbook was made for the Unusual Suspects jam, hosted by Dissonance. It uses a modified Scribus template found here.
